JusContractus is a full service law firm, providing the highest quality legal services, encompassing an equally strong corporate, arbitration, civil and criminal litigation practice. The philosophy of the Firm has been to provide clients, comprehensive and efficacious solutions, to their most challenging legal issues, in a manner that is creative, innovative and result oriented, keeping in mind the clients’ business and/or litigation objectives.

The Firm was founded on May 1, 2013, by Payal Chawla, who brings with her a diverse background as an experienced litigator and as well as a corporate practitioner. Payal currently heads the Corporate practice.

JusContractus is still at an embryonic stage.  The team consists of six lawyers, an office manager, a court clerk and an office boy, located in the heart of the commercial center.  We are young, driven and know how to win!

  • Currently representing two of the Selling Shareholders in the Indigo IPO
  • Successfully obtained an order permitting the Sir Bob Geldof show to be hosted before a specially convened court at the residence of Hon’ble Justice HimaKohli on a Sunday morning
  • Successively represented a real estate client and had the matter dismissed before the National Green Tribunal, in respect of natural drains
  • Successfully closed major transactions on purchase of agricultural parcels of land
  • Successfully represented the client before the Hon’ble Shimla High Court on a matter relating to unearned increase.
  • Successfully represented a client before the National Consumer Redressal Forum in obtaining the principal amount along with interest in marine insurance matter. Matter is currently under appeal before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
  • Successfully closed a share purchase agreement for sale of preference shares in a major airline.
  • Successfully closed pre-series funding for two start-ups.
  • Successfully set-up a complicated discretionary trust.
  • Represented and advised an investee in a private equity transaction. Work involved drafting, reviewing, negotiating the Share Subscription Agreement and Shareholders Agreement and its related transactional documents. (Transaction successful closed).
  • Currently advising a Client (at the Term Sheet stage) in making an early stage investment in a BVI Company, with a proposed holding entity in Malta and proposed operating entity in Ireland.
  • Currently representing a Client in proceedings initiated by SEBI inter alia on allegations of Unfair Trade Practise in relation to GDRs.
  • Advised a French Reality Show film making Company and their officials in prosecutions initiated by the West Bengal Police and other departments including the MEA, for allegedly carrying 22 satellite phones;
  • Currently advising a Client on structuring a joint development project in Himachal Pradesh involving complicated issues such as the applicability of Section 118 Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reform Act, 1972.
  • Currently advising a Client on structuring a maintenance entity on a Joint Development Project in Haryana
  • Currently advising a Client on structuring a complicated Joint Development project in South India. Currently at the MOU stage.
  • Advised a Client on aspects relating to Lal Dora Land and currently working on filing a writ against inter alia against the Union of India.
  • Currently working on a debt recovery mandate from a Client, which involves recovery from over 50 parties. Work could involve filing winding ups, arbitrations, summary suits / civil suits for recovery.
  • Sought bail / Recovery of belongings / passport for a Client involved in airport scuffle against the CISF.
  • Was involved with seeking bail for a client in a Narcotics Matter.
  • Currently advising a client on a shareholder exit in closely held public company.
  • Successfully obtained a monetary settlement for a client against a prestigious public school in an arbitration.
  • Successfully represented an Employerin an Employer-Employee in mediation;
  • Currently representing two Employee Clients in separate matter against their Employers;
  • Successfully represented a client in a prestigious and very complex partition suit, involving strategic and on your feet thinking negotiations.
  • Successfully structured a succession plan for a family with complex ownership of assets in a tax efficient manner;
  • Currently involved with the grant of probate in respect of a Will by a husband in favour of his wife and children;
  • Currently involved with the conceptualization, drafting and execution of a very prestigious public charitable trust involving world renowned professors and noble laureates.
  • Involved with the drafting of developing joint ownership of intellectual property between two prestigious public charitable trusts.
  • Advised a Client on the colonization of industrial land for sale as industrial plots in Punjab and working on all its related aspects including joint development agreement.
  • Advising and drafting of Pre-bid MOUs/consortium agreements for a Infrastructure Company.
  • Representing a client in an arbitral dispute against the Airport Authority of India on contractual issues.
  • Representing a client before the National Consumer Forum for recovery of dues from a national Insurance company.
  • Defending a property dispute relating to the Delhi Rent Control Act before the District Court in Delhi.
  • Handling a divorce matter involving maintenance before the District Court.
